Riax-M XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.

Driving

Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is low or high. If this happens, do not drive.

Kidney
CAUTION

Riax-M XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Riax-M XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Riax-M XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.

Riax-M XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Riax-M XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Riax-M XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

How to use Riax-M Tablet XR
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Riax-M XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet is to be taken with food.Riax-M XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet may cause stomach upset if taken on empty stomach.

How Riax-M XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet works
Riax-M XR 5mg/1000mg Tablet is a combination of two antidiabetic medicines: Saxagliptin and metformin. Saxagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor which works by increasing the release of insulin from pancreas and decreasing the hormones that raise blood sugar levels. This reduces both fasting and postmeal sugar levels. Metformin is a biguanide which decreases the production and absorption of sugar in your body and allows better use of existing insulin. Together, they provide better control of blood sugar.

Side Effects:

Common Nausea, Flatulence, Indigestion, Dizziness, Headache, Fatigue, Muscle pain, Upper respiratory tract infection, Sinus inflammation, Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar level) in combination with insulin or sulphonylurea.
